Dream Education recognises the importance of matching qualified and professional candidates with each school to cover short or long-term, or permanent placements. Each candidate is thoroughly vetted to ensure they have the relevant qualifications, experience and competence to enable them to teach the National Curriculum.
Before any candidate is registered with Dream Education, they will be subjected to strict vetting and checking procedures. These checks are in full compliance and accordance with the legal requirements detailed in DfES circular number 7/96: "Use of supply teachers".
So, whether we are interviewing home-grown teachers or if we are meeting with teachers from overseas, we apply the same rigorous series of checks to each potential Dream teacher to ensure that they meet our strict standards. Teachers must be able to show:
- Professional skills and abilities
- Enthusiasm and flexibility
- Proof of qualifications and right to work in the UK
All Dream teachers are subject to the following:
Interview
All Dream teachers are interviewed face to face by one of our trained education recruitment specialists.
Identity checks
All Dream teachers have their identity fully checked and verified.
Health Check
All Dream teachers complete a full health assessment.
DfES List 99
All Dream teachers are electronically checked against the DfES, List 99.
Criminal Records Bureau
All Dream teachers are subject to an "Enhanced Disclosure" vetting with the CRB.
Criminal Checks
All overseas trained teachers must produce a current clear Criminal Check from their home country.
Qualification Check
All Dream teachers must produce original or verified copies of all post 18 qualifications including relevant degrees and teaching qualifications.
Qualified Teacher status
All Dream teachers must produce evidence of their Qualified Teacher Status. Where they have trained overseas their qualification will be verified for appropriate equivalence with UK NARIC.
References
All dream teachers are required to have at least two confidential references. The references will remain closed and confidential to Dream. These references must be from an education professional, on school headed paper, written by a person in a senior post to the applicant, and, one of the references must be from the school at which they were last employed. In the case of a newly qualified teacher, one must be from their teacher training college or university.
Dream’s policy is that no teacher will be allowed to commence work in any school until all of the above checks are completed. In exceptional cases, where one of the checks cannot be completed the school will be notified in advance. Only where the school agrees will the teacher commence work subject to the arrival of a satisfactory check being forwarded.
