How do I register with NROD and Dream Policing Support?
There are a number of ways you can register with Dream Policing Support. You can apply online by completing our registration form, or alternatively you can contact us by phone or email and we send you out the relevant forms to register with us.
Once we receive your initial registration we will assess your application and contact you by phone to discuss your particulars in more detail. Based on the information that you provide us with we will also give you an idea of the vacancies and opportunities that exist both in your area, and nationwide. Our aim is then to contact you from time to time when other suitable vacancies arise, either over the phone or via email.
Do I have to provide any documentation before I start working?
Yes, Dream Policing Support require our workers to supply a Certificate of Service, an identification photo (for the production of an ID card), and 2 referees (one of which must be from the last force with which you served i.e. the Human Resources Department, the other may be a personal reference). All this documentation must be received prior to your commencement of work through DPS.
Will my details be made available to anyone other than DPS staff?
Your details will not be disclosed to any other company outside of the Dream Group companies. From time to time you may receive information about other Dream Recruitment services unless you notify us that you do not wish to receive these.
What are the costs involved?
The National Retired Officers Database is a service operated totally free of charge by Dream Policing Support and is open to all former and retired police officers and civilian specialists. There are no costs involved in either registering with us, or working through us.
What types of contracts am I likely to be offered?
The array of positions that we offer depends largely upon the needs and requirements of the force at any given time. If we believe these posts match your skills, location and preference for work we will be happy to discuss both permanent and temporary contracts with you which may entail either full-time or part-time work.
The types of jobs that we contact you about depend also upon what types of information you provide us with at the time of registration. For example, we will match you as closely as possible to the skill set that you provide us with and we will also only contact you in regard to jobs that are in areas of the UK in which you tell us you are willing to work.
What is the likelihood of me successfully finding work?
Employers look to match the most suitable candidate to each available vacancy based on skills, experience, qualifications and preferred location. The information that you provide on your CV is vital and the more you can provide, the more informed the employer will be with regards your suitability. It is also worth bearing in mind that some parts of the country have more activity than others and although we cannot guarantee work, we endeavour to provide you with every opportunity, based on your location preferences and availability.
How do I get paid for the work that I do?
When you take up a contract, you will be employed by Dream Policing Support and will be required to complete weekly timesheets which will be signed by your line manager at your place of work. We pay your salary on a monthly basis, with payments entering your account on the first Monday of each month. You can work with Dream on either PAYE or as a Limited Company. Any of our dedicated Policing consultants will be happy to give you more information in regards to this.
When am I likely to receive my timesheet?
You will receive your time sheet by email, post or fax depending upon which method you prefer, on a Monday afternoon. If you have not received your timesheet by Thursday for any reason, please give DPS a call and we will arrange to send one to you immediately.
When is the cut off for sending my timesheet in?
You must submit your timesheet no later than 12pm on the Monday following the week you have worked.
Do I get holiday pay and what is my holiday leave entitlement?
The equivalent of 20 days of holiday pay has already been encompassed into the hourly rate for every contract. Should you wish to take time off in addition to this, it may be arranged between the client and yourself.
Will I get mileage to and from work?
No, but you will be compensated for any mileage used whilst you are carrying out any roles which require you to use your car.
What is the mileage rate?
This rate varies for each force but the average tends to be about 40p per mile.
Will traveling time be paid?
No our company policy is that we do not pay for travel time either to or from work.
Who should I contact if I need a day off?
If you are unwell and require taking time off due to sickness, it is best to contact both Dream and the individual you have been contracted to. The details relating to the client should be included as part of your initial employment pack.
How much notice when on contract do I have to give?
Should you wish to terminate a contract prior to the final contracted date, you must give 4 weeks notice.
Should a contract be terminated how much notice does the employer have to give?
Should the employer wish to terminate the contract earlier than the contracted date, they must give 4 weeks notice.
Will accommodation be provided?
This will very much depend upon the role. For example, if you are employed in a training capacity then accommodation would be provided. If however you were employed as a statement taker, accommodation would not be provided
