Social work, our candidates can have a rewarding future within the key service area of Children and Families.
Social workers in Children, Young People and Families teams offer professional support and advice to children with
special needs and their families. They assist families that are facing difficulties by visiting and discussing
problems and working in conjunction with the family to find ways to overcome these in line with the regulations
and codes of practice set out by the general Social Care Council. Social workers can provide information about
the range of services that are available to these families from government, private and voluntary bodies that
specialise in working with children in need. They are also able to offer advice on welfare benefits and can
help with budgetary planning and financial problems that families may be facing.

- Adoption and Foster Care
- Child Protection
- Children and Families affected by HIV
